8 fountains, filters, valves, water, urinal pools
reinraum Düsseldorf
2018
“Splashback shows a water sculpture comprised of eight parts. The sounds of water, controlled by filters and valves, pouring into the 8 urinal pools, become a composition. Splashback was created in artistic collaboration with Frederic Marquardt (performance, composition) and Jürgen Schaich (technical development).”

Trackfile of the composition
The first number of the command determines the duration of time (in ms) for which the individual pumps are activated. In the second part (after the semicolon) eight binary variables follow that can either be ‘1‘ or ‘-‘. The variables are linked to the 8 fountains from left to right. At ‘1‘ the respective fountain is activated, at ‘-‘ it remains inactive.
